Karaoke Name Terms of Use
Effective Date: 9th June 2025
Last Updated: 1st July 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Karaoke Name website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Karaoke Name ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal data. Our Legal & Licenses page lists open source software used in the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Karaoke Name. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or guardian to use the Service. By signing up, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and kept up to date.
2. Account & Access
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and confidential. We are not liable for unauthorised use of your account resulting from your failure to protect your credentials. Notify us promptly if you suspect a breach or unauthorised access.
You may hold more than one role on the platform (for example, singer and host). Features available to you depend on your account type and, where applicable, active subscriptions.
3. The Service & User Roles
Karaoke Name is a platform connecting karaoke singers, hosts (KJs), and venues. We provide tools for gig discovery, song requests, queue management, messaging, profiles, optional subscriptions, and a web-based karaoke player. We do not run live events ourselves and are not a party to agreements between hosts, venues, and singers.
- Singers can discover gigs, request songs, manage a setlist, view history, and optionally subscribe to Singer Pro for expanded history and analytics. Base singer features are free.
- Hosts can create and manage gigs, run queues, use the karaoke player, communicate with singers and venues, and subscribe to host plans (The Controller and, when available, The Rig) for professional tooling.
- Venues can maintain a venue profile, discover and contact hosts, and link gigs to venue information where supported. Base venue features are currently free.
Academy and Help content is provided for general education only and does not constitute legal, financial, licensing, or professional advice.
4. Gigs, Song Requests & Messaging
Song requests are managed at the discretion of each host and may be subject to venue rules, rotation policies, and gig settings (including whether registration is required). We do not guarantee that a requested song will be performed.
The Service includes in-app messaging between users (for example, singers, hosts, and venues). You must use messaging lawfully and respectfully. We may monitor, restrict, or remove messaging features to enforce these Terms or applicable law.
Song history, queue data, and gig participation may be stored in the cloud. Data lost due to misuse, technical failure, account closure, or breach of these Terms may not be recoverable.
5. Host & Venue Responsibilities
If you use Karaoke Name as a host or venue, you are responsible for your own compliance with applicable laws, venue policies, and industry requirements, including:
- Ensuring you have the right to play music and related content in public or at your event (for example, venue public-performance licences such as PRS/PPL in the UK, or equivalent rights in your jurisdiction)
- Using only karaoke tracks, lyrics, videos, images, and other media that you are legally entitled to use
- Running your event safely and in accordance with venue rules and local regulations
- Accurately representing your business, availability, and gig details on the platform
Karaoke Name does not supply licensed karaoke tracks. Hosts access and play files from their own libraries or devices through the player. You are solely responsible for the content you select, upload, display, or perform using the Service.
6. Karaoke Player & Technical Features
The karaoke player and related features (including pitch/tempo adjustment, audio processing, visualisations, beat synchronisation, and optional machine-learning tools) are provided on an "as available" basis. Results may vary by device, browser, audio source, and network conditions.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted playback, perfect synchronisation, or specific audio quality. Features may change, be limited during beta periods, or be withdrawn. Local file access and offline behaviour depend on your browser and device permissions.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes
- Upload, share, or use infringing, offensive, abusive, defamatory, or misleading content
- Harass, threaten, or spam other users via requests, messages, or reviews
- Reverse-engineer, hack, scrape, or interfere with the Service or its security
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation
- Use the Service to distribute malware or to play or promote unlicensed copyrighted material
We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or report activity to authorities where appropriate.
8. User-Generated Content
You may submit content through the Service, including reviews, profile information, messages, venue or host descriptions, images, screensavers, and support communications ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you:
- Grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content as needed to operate and promote the Service
- Confirm you own or have the necessary rights to your User Content and that it does not infringe third-party rights
- Acknowledge that we may moderate, edit, or remove User Content at our discretion
You retain ownership of your User Content. Views expressed in reviews or messages are those of the user, not Karaoke Name.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including our software, branding, logos, trademarks, trade names, graphics, and original content (excluding User Content and third-party materials), is owned by Karaoke Name or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute, adapt, or exploit any part of the Service without our prior written permission.
Open source components are used under their respective licences, as described on our Legal & Licenses page.
10. Payments & Subscriptions
Free features. Singers and venues can use core features without charge. Hosts require an active host subscription (or approved access such as a perpetual or promotional account) to use paid host tooling, except where we explicitly offer a trial or free tier.
Singer Pro (optional). Singers may optionally subscribe to Singer Pro for expanded history, repertoire tools, and analytics. Current prices are shown at checkout (for example, monthly or annual plans in GBP).
Host subscriptions. Hosts may subscribe to The Controller (standard) and, when offered, The Rig (pro). Plan names, features, and prices are displayed during signup or upgrade. New host subscriptions may include a free trial period where stated at checkout.
Stripe.Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. Billing details, tax, and invoices are handled through Stripe where configured.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before renewal
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through the Stripe Customer Portal or other in-app billing controls we provide
- Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by applicable law or explicitly stated at checkout
- We may change prices or plan features; changes apply to new purchases and, where required by law, with notice before renewal
11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
We provide Karaoke Name on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Although we strive for accuracy and reliability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for:
- The conduct, quality, safety, or legality of events run by hosts or venues
- Copyright or licensing compliance by hosts, venues, or singers in relation to music or media they use
- Errors or omissions in song requests, queues, history, maps, locations, or other user-submitted or derived data
- Performance of audio processing, beat detection, visualisations, or other technical features
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms, misuse, non-payment, or legal reasons. You may delete your account via the app or by contacting us. Cancelling a subscription stops future billing but may not immediately remove access until the end of the current paid period, depending on Stripe and plan settings.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email where appropriate. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will change when revisions are published. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.
15. Contact
